September Premiere Firearms Auction

Auction Details

“Fresh, Historic, and Rare” is the potent combination of words Rock Island Auction Company Owner and President Patrick Hogan has used to describe the RIAC upcoming September Premiere Firearms Auction. The entire auction exudes condition, quality and rarity but its greatest appeal lies in the freshness of what is being offered. It is not often a collector, auctioneer, investment buyer, or dealer is given the opportunity to own, buy, or in Rock Island’s case, market and sell a historically significant piece; or an item that was manufactured in 1861 that looks like it did the day it left the factory over 150 years ago. However, this opportunity has presented itself to the Rock Island Auction Company in their upcoming September 13th, 14th, and 15th Premiere Firearms Auction. Contained within the sale are a number of collections from monumental and legendary names in firearms collecting. Included are the Smith & Wesson and Colt Automatic Pistol Collection of Mr. William Goddard featuring the Gustave Young Factory Engraved and Gold Inlaid Smith & Wesson .44 Frontier exhibited at the 1893 Worlds Columbian Exhibition in Chicago with an Unmatched Historic Pedigree from Arizona; as well as the first Colt Automatic Pistol--Colt Model 1900 John Browning Prototype Slide Lock Semi-Automatic Pistol. Part II of the Chuck and Sharron Lindley Collection of German Automatic Pistols is also part of this auction. The beautiful and comprehensive Winchester collection of Mr. Mike Ginn which touts early 1st model 1873’s, the most extensive and complete collection of large frame 1876’s RIAC has ever handled headlined by the Fully Documented, Factory Engraved, Ulrich Signed, 50 Express, Matted Barrel, 22” Short Rifle Model 1876. Also, the Estate Collection of noted Colt Collector C.D. Terry which includes a phenomenal selection of percussion Colts and a historic grouping of 1871-1872 Open Top Revolvers. Most notable are two rifles from the most prominent name in all of Winchester Collecting, Mac McCroskie, featuring the Finest Known Iron Frame Henry Rifle and a Conrad F. Ulrich signed Relief Engraved Winchester Model 1866 Masterpiece Rifle.
The fact of the matter is that the bulk of the marquee pieces featured in this sale have sat within some of the most noteworthy collections within their respected fields for many decades. “When quality, condition and rarity come together, there is no telling what will happen at auction. Rarely can you tout something as being the very best of the best in any field of collectable, but in this sale we can say it more than once.” said Hogan.
