home-brew kit radio, built by Clyde C. Morgan
This set was hand built by Clyde C. Morgan of 516 West 3rd Street, Erie Pennsylvania. The label inside says so. It is a beautifully made set with a hard rubber molded front panel and a chassis that is clearly part of a factory made kit. A student of mine, who lived in Erie, saw this set and wanted to investigate its history. Tom Horn and his father went by the address and took a photograph of the house this set was constructed in. It was for sale at the time. Their research discovered that Clyde was a famous musician who played with the Columbia Theatre Pit Band for many years. That would explain his interest in early radio. This set is in good condition and contains the documentation of its provenance inside the cabinet. no tubes
