The poster depicts a number of people traveling through the park in an open White Motor Company touring bus, artist's initials on bottom right. In the early years of Yellowstone National Park, transportation into and through the park was by stagecoach through a series of independent franchises. Eventually, all transportation was was combined under a lease to the Yellowstone National Park Transportation Company which was established in 1892. In 1916 private motorized vehicles were allowed in the park and the following year, the Yellowstone Park Transportation Company was exclusively allowed to operate public transportation in the park on behalf of the Park Service. The 11-passenger White Motor Company buses were used from 1917-1925 with design changes from 1920-1925.
