Available for your bidding pleasure we have a pair of Yanowamo Indian hand woven baskets dating to the 1800's. The Yanowamo tribe of Native American Indians are indigenous to the Amazon Rain Forest in South America. The larger basket is called a burden basket and would be used to gather wild food or harvesting crops. This basket shows tightly woven material and good quality. It measures 11" tall X 12" in diameter. The second basket also shows a hand woven flat basket. This basket shows a looser weave but exquisite work and good condition. It measures 5" tall X 17" in diameter. This lot also includes a book on the Yanowamo Indians written by Professor Hap Gilliland.
