Blade and tangent sights, with "eagle/ 280" proof on the breech and receiver ring, "ax/ 1940" manufacturer/ date markings on the ring, and "Mod. 98" in correct script on the receiver wall. Bolt components are number "8973m", with other parts matching. Milled bands, floor plate and trigger guard. Smooth laminated stock, with an "eagle/ H" Heer stamp, "eagle/ 280" stamps and a flat buttplate. With a brown leather sling. Only in production for 2 years, Feinmechanische Werke "ax" code arms are hard to find in collectible condition.

Condition: Fine, with 40% of the faded blue finish remaining, showing a gray patina at the muzzle and a brown patina on the receiver and barrel bands. Bolt assembly has 60% of it's finish, showing bright wear. Stock is very good, with scuffing and scratches overall. Sling is supple. Mechanically excellent.
