Regulation pattern Nazi SS Officer's sword with scabbard. The sword has a bright, 34-inch, spear-point blade with single, stopped, fuller. The blade is undecorated and has no visible maker's marks. The D-shaped guard is nickel plated. The grip is wrapped with black leather and a single strand of silver wire. A round disk with silver SS runes is inlaid on the obverse side of the grip. The reverse side of the grip has a vertical silver reinforcing band. The base of the grip has a cast silver oak leaf and acorn motif. The sword is identical to the example pictured on page 185 of "THE DAGGERS AND EDGED WEAPONS OF HITLER'S GERMANY" by LTC James P. Atwood. The sword is complete with a steel scabbard with black enamel body and silver-plated tip and throat. The scabbard is unmarked and has a single suspension ring.

Serial Number: NSN
Condition: Very good. The blade shows scattered patches of age discoloration and tarnish. The edges are smooth and free from nicks. The blade retains the original leather washer. The nickel-plated D-guard has some flaking and retains about 85% of the original finish. The silver base of the grip is tarnished. The leather grip cover, wire wrap and SS rune are in very good condition. The scabbard is very good overall condition and retains about 70% of the black enamel finish. The silver throat and drag are tarnished. This is a very good example of a scarce WWII regulation pattern SS Officer's sword and scabbard.
