This is a early WWII Mauser rifle that was converted/assembled into a double claw type sniper rifle. The receiver ring is marked 1939 with the front base covering the manufacturers code. The right side of the receiver is stamped with three "Eagle/26" Waffenamt proofs, with the side wall is marked "Mod.98". The top of the front and rear receiver rings have been fitted with a set of commercial double claw scope bases that have cross-hatch checkering on top of both bases. It has been fitted with a commercial scope with adjustable focus, that is fitted with a set of semi-circle commercial rings with the rear ring stamped with a circled "Z" proofmark. The scope is marked with only "4X81" on the left side of the elevation base. It is currently fitted with a set of very late war stamped barrel bands, with a milled trigger guard and floor plate. It is also fitted with a very late war/post war laminated handguard and stock with a cupped buttplate. The stock is unnumbered and has no acceptable or proofmarks. It is complete with a front sight cover and a leather sling.

Condition: Very good as assembled, with 60% of a wartime blue finish overall. Stock and handguard are both very good overall with handling marks, light pressure dents and dings overall. The scope and rings retain 90% of a thinning blue finish overall with clear optics with the rear ocular eye-piece being refurbished.
