This is a very fine example of an original pre-war 1940 dated, "42 code" Nazi Mauser Luger rig. These Lugers feature a salt blue metal finish with checkered walnut grips. The chamber area is marked with the full date of 1940 with the new "42" code marking for the Mauser factory on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the early double "Eagle/ 655" proofs and the single "Eagle/ Swastika" firing proof, with both proofmarks also on the top rear section of the barrel. The left side of breechblock is also marked with "Eagle and Swastika" test/acceptance proof. The safety and extractor are marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. This pistol is complete with two matchings, "122/E37" Waffenamt proofed with the pinned aluminum bases that are stamped: "E/37/8779/a/" and "E/37/8779/a/+/" with a 1940 dated, black leather holster. The back of the holster is stamped "KARL BUCKER/1940/WALDBROL/Eagle WaA195".
