This is a solid example of a World War II Luger pistol, as manufactured by the Mauser factory. The chamber is dated 1939 and the front toggle has the wartime code of "S/42", for the Mauser factory. The right side barrel extension is stamped double "eagle/63" Waffenamt proof along with the single eagle firing proof. It is numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number (4570) on the major components, with the last two digits (70) stamped on the various small parts. It has one blue unmarked magazine with aluminum base that is stamped "4570/n/Eagle 63" with the spare magazine stamped "4570/u/+/Eagle 63". This pistol is complete with a black leather holster marked "GENSCHOW & COMPANY/1937" on the back.
BBL: 3 7/8 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 4570n
Condition: Very fine with 85% plus of the wartime blue finish overall with wear and thinning on the edge and high spots, with some minor blue loss on the grip straps. The left side of frame has some illegible graffiti scratched on the flat. The grips are very good with nice distinct checkering on both sides, with some minor pressure dents on the right side. The holster is fine overall with seperation due to cracking on front. Clear sharp markings. The stitching is tight, however the leather was redyed/repolished at some point and has now taken on a old age sheen to the finish. The pistol has matching numbers including the magazines. A previous owners name has been lightly scratched, into the left side plate.
