This is an mid-WWII U.S. Army Model 1911A1 pistol that was manufactured by Colt Firearms in 1943. The slide has the standard two-line, two-block patent and address markings with the Colt Rampant Horse logo in the middle. The left side of the frame is stamped with the standard U.S. Army inspectors initials of, "G.H.D." with a single "P" proof below the magazine release. The receiver is stamped, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/1154516" with "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY". It has the WWII style checkered, slide stop, thumb safety, wide spur hammer and arched mainspring housing and the blued barrel is stamped "COLT 45 AUTO" on the lower left side with a single "P" proof, on the left side of the barrel lug. It has the standard checkered plastic grips with wide reinforcing rings, with strengthening rib and mold numbers. The slide is correctly unnumbered and has a single "P" proof in front of the rear sight. The feed ramp has a repolished face. This pistol is furnished with one WWII blued magazine marked "R" on the lip.

Condition: Excellent with 97% of the original parkerized finish with edge and high spot wear overall with actual finish loss on the lower left front edge of the main spring hosing and front edge of the frame. The grips are in excellent condition with minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. A very nice all original example of a WWII Colt Model 1911A1 pistol.
