This is a standard WWI 1896 Mauser Contract Broomhandle pistol chambered in the 9 mm Luger cartridge. The frame and chamber area are both marked with the standard Mauser factory addresses with the left side of the chamber and top rear section of the breech bolt also stamped with a "Crown/U" proofmark. It has a standard fixed front sight with the tangent rear sight marked "50-500" with the "NS" marked hammer. It is fitted with standard 23 groove grips which have the large, red painted number "9" on each side. This pistol is complete with the original walnut shoulder stock/holster that has a matching attaching iron, numbered "297" on top.

Condition: Very fine pistol with 95% of the original blue finish overall with wear on the edges and high spots, with blue loss on the underside of the barrel and front frame rails. The replacement grips are both excellent with minimal handling marks. The stock is good having been heavily sanded and revarnished overall on the wood and metal, with a small plastic wood filler on the right side in front of the lid. The pistol has matching numbers to include the stock attaching iron as noted above, except for the wooden grips, which are numbered to another pistol (59249).
