Winston Churchill Master Engraved C.O. Audette Bolt Action Rifle with Scope

This custom rifle was fabricated by Creighton Audette using a DWM Mauser action. Audette was a gunsmith, shooter, Palma Team competitor, ballistician and experimenter. His most noted contribution is the ladder method of load development, a method for developing precision rifle handloads. The left side of the barrel is marked "C.O. AUDETTE .270 WIN" and the left receiver wall has the DWM Berlin address. The top of the barrel is signed by Dale Goens and the floor plate is signed Winston G Churchill. The barrel is manufactured without sights and the rifle is equipped with a Leupold M8-4x scope on a Buehler mount. The floor plate and trigger guard feature an exquisite scroll engraving incorporating eagles in a mountain scene. Mounted on a highly attractive and multi-checkered walnut pistol grip stock with grip cap, contrasting forend cap, quick release sling swivels and Old English Pachmayr buttpad. Consignor notes state that the stock was fabricated by veteran stockmaker Dale Goens and the engraving was executed by renowned Master Engraver Winston Churchill. The accompanying article "An American Master" from the May 1990 issue of American Rifleman pictures a similar stock by Dale Goens. The book THE CHURCHILL-EATON COLT .45, which is signed by Winston Churchill, is also included with the rifle. An extremely rare and desirable "Three Masters" rifle capable of minute of angle accuracy.
