Winchester model 70 XTR featherweight, .280 Remington caliber, bolt-action rifle, ornately engraved with select burl-wood stock in original cardboard box, serial #G1747944. End label shows Winchester custom gunshop end marked 1987 show gun, first .280 Remington caliber produced. Made for factory exhibition and shows. The barrel is 22” in length and high polish royal blue finished with flush gold inlay reading “Winchester model 70 XTR featherweight - .280 Rem”. The action is French-grey finished in European manner with beautifully engraved floral and game scenes, flush gold inlay trademark, gold scroll accents and hinge of floorplate. The left side of the receiver shows jumping stag and doe. Floorplate shows close-up of stag and doe and bear on triggerguard. The bolt handle is finely engraved. The floorplate is signed by the engraver “R. Greco”. The stock is finely checkered select walnut with fancy patterns. The buttplate is a leather covered English style. The gun shows French-grey mounts for sling swivels. The condition is excellent and unused, showing no evidence of firing. The bolt is engine turned. The box shows some slight tatters, some taping, but is very good with full serial
