Winchester model 1895 special ordered flat side deluxe with checkered 3x burl walnut stock and pistol grip. Serial #3668. The rifle is inscribed “John W. Fry in appreciation for his kind attentions in 1896from J.G.” on left side of frame. The rifle is chambered in .30 US(.30-.40 Krag) caliber with 28” round barrel. The rifle remains in fine to excellent condition with 95% plus original bright blue thinning at the highpoints and edges of the frame with almost no loss to the barrel which is near excellent. The hammer shows 90%-95% bright original case hardening. The stocks are fine to near excellent with a couple of minor nicks anddents and show a pronounced burl wood grain. The action is crisp the bore is bright. Markings are sharp. Deluxe flat sides are scarce and this example in the top few known.
