Winchester model 1895 Special Order deluxe rifle, .30 U.S. caliber, fancy burl walnut stock, 28” round barrel, rifle butt, in fine to near excellent condition. Received in the ware house August 5th, 1899, shipped on thesame day with two other model 1895’s. Letter confirms caliber, fancy stock, shipment dates. The barrel shows 90-95% original blue, thinning on the edges, one thumb size area of pitting, 6-1/4” back on the left side from the muzzle. The left side of the frame shows 85-95% original blue thinning at the edges and operating areas with some minor scratches. The right side of the frame shows 70-80% original blue with some areas ofcleaning, scratches, normal aging. The stocks show a beautiful burl wood grain with crisp checkering and 90-95% original varnish, normal scratches, slight wear, but at least very good plus overall. The markings aresharp, the edges are crisp, the buttplate shows considerable case hardening that is toned. The action is good, bore very good. 95 Deluxes are scarce, this one has very nice wood.
