Winchester model 1894 lever-action rifle, .38-55 caliber, 26” octagon barrel, takedown frame, full magazine, checkered pistol grip stock, rifle butt, sling swivel eyelets, serial #29261. Received in the warehouseOctober 3rd, 1898, shipped October 3rd, 1898. Returned and repaired August 25th, 1899 to order #32847. The letter confirms caliber, octagon barrel, checkered pistol grip, takedown. Originally shipped with Lyman front and rear sights and set trigger, and no mention of extra barrel and forend which were probably supplied and fitted when the gun was repaired and factory modified. The original barrel is 26”, .30-30. The rifleshows 85-95% original blue on .38-55 caliber barrel, some drifting at the edges, minor scratches, minor aging. The magazine tube shows 80% blue with some bright areas from takedown. The frame shows 50-70% drifting and toning blue. The takedown collar and forend cap show 70% thinning blue.
