Winchester model 1886 rifle, .45-90 caliber, 26” octagon barrel, full magazine, rifle butt, serial #73903. The rifle remains in good original condition showing 20-40% original blue on barrel and magazine tubedrifting to brown patina with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting starting on the edges with some light cleaning long ago on the edges of the barrel where it has started to rust. The barreladdress is good, edges fairly sharp, some good blue in protected areas. The frame, lever, hammer show strong traces of case hardening drifting to silvery patina. The forend shows some slivers of wood missing atthe top with some smoothing from wear. The buttstock shows a crack in the wrist on left, small losses, some chips, dings, mars, and is fair only. The original front and rear sights remain. The elevator has been changedto a hand-carved piece of wood during period of use. The bolt shows considerable blue. The action is tight, the bore is fair to good with wear to the rifling but still fairly bright but definitely usable. Est: $1,400 -
