Winchester model 1876 lever action rifle, .40-60 caliber, 28” octagon barrel, full magazine, rifle butt, plain trigger, received in the warehouse October 15th, 1884, shipped from the warehouse October 16th 1884, withfour other 76’s to order number 15956. With features verified by factory letter, serial #40534. The barrel retains 20-40% original blue, some drifting on the edges, some light to moderate erosion and pitting, mostly onthe forward top flat of barrel from the area of the barrel address towards the muzzle. The markings are good and sharp, the edges crisp, the magazine tube retains 60-80% thinning blue. The frame shows 50-70%original blue, just thinning at the edges. The loading gate shows 50-70% blue. The dust cover shows 20-30% blue. The hammer and lever show 20-40% case hardening with some colorful areas. The forend cap shows 50-60%thinning blue. The buttplate shows traces of color. The forend is good to very good with a couple of minor bumps and scratches. The buttstock is good plus and would be very good other than a small area of fill in the wood
