Winchester model 1873 saddle-ring carbine, .44-40 caliber, blue finish, serial #551052B, in fine to excellent original condition. The barrel shows 98-99% original blue finish as does the magazine tube. Bands show 95-98%original blue. Frame shows 90-95% original blue, just some slight thinning at the edges, some minor scratches, and beginning normal age. The dust cover shows 75-85% thinning original blue. The loading gate shows 80-90%original blue. The lever and hammer show 75%-85% case hardening that is dulling slightly. The stocks are fine to near excellent with a couple of bumps, two small gouges in the forend. The buttstock shows acouple slight marks and is near excellent. The buttplate shows 70-80% case hardening thinning, toning slightly. The bolt shows most of its original finish, just some slight scratches on the edge. The bore is excellent and bright. The carbine rear sight shows all of its original finish. There is a couple of slight marks beneath the saddle-ring from normal carry. A strong 9.5 on 1-10 scale, and it is extremely hard to upgrade a carbine
