Winchester model 1866 lever action rifle late production series showing iron butt plate and conversion from carbine, serial number 152518 still in .44 rimfire. The barrel shows a pleasing brown patina with traces of bluemixed in and a good sharp barrel address with crisp edges. The frame is sharp with a light patina. The side plates fit nicely and the frame shows just minor edge wear and slight scratches. The loading gate shows 50%thinning blue. The hammer and lever show traces of case hardening. The stocks are very good plus with an excellent wood to metal fit. The stocks are at least very good plus. The action works well and the bore is good.The original small parts and sights are all retained. The front sight blade is a period replacement in the factory base which rests in the original dovetail. A nice late 66 rifle that is a 7 ½ to 8 on 1 to 10 scale and may be in a range where the factory will have information on this serial number. Est.: $7,000-$14,000.
