The Model 21 was Winchester's finest effort with regard to quality, reliability and strength. Developed in the 1920's, the introduction of this fine side-by-side shotgun was delayed by the company's financial troubles. The Model 21 got the attention it richly deserved when Winchester was purchased by the Olin family. Despite being offered as a production gun, actually it was a hand built custom made shotgun. From 1931 to 1959 it was considered a production line gun and about 30,000 were sold. In 1960 the Custom Shop opened and it was built there using the same procedures. Sales during this era were about 1,000. Production was discontinued in 1991. This shotgun was manufactured circa 1948 and features two steel bead sights on the matte vent rib. The left barrel is marked "WINCHESTER 12 GAUGE / 2 3/4 CHAM.", the trigger guard plate is marked "TRAP", the left side of the water table three line model and address and the bottom of each barrel is marked "FULL". Single trigger with selector, ejectors, manual tang safety and mounted with a checkered walnut beaver tail forearm and pistol grip stock with hard rubber Winchester grip cap and Pachmayr White Line vented recoil pad. Length of pull is 13 7/8".
