'Sporting Rifle' manufactured circa 1902. Features 24" barrel, buckhorn sights, vertical box magazine, straight grip, steel crescent buttplate, sling studs, schnabel tip forend with fancy ebony colored insert, cross hatched anti-glare panel on receiver ring. Bore is good condition, lightly frosted with strong rifling. Retains 65% blued finish, some patina and pitting on top of action, thinning to gray or bare metal on high spots & sharp edges, bare metal where action parts rub, scratches and areas of bare metal on barrel. Receiver has several dents and deep scratches. Screw heads show some marring of slots. Buttplate is good condition, patina brown over bare metal. Forend is good condition, with small area of sharp dents to left side, shallow dents many places. Stock is very good condition with small dents and scratches. Wood to metal fit is good overall. Two line address on receiver is sharp, with some light pitting over letters. Caliber marking is crisp, "Nickel Steel / Smokeless Powder" marking on barrel shows some thinning across top. No proofs observed on receiver ring or breech. Action operates smoothly.
