Takedown 'Sporting Rifle' manufactured 1907. Features 26" octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, takedown lever at magazine cap, buckhorn sights, straight grip, steel crescent buttplate. Bore is fair to good condition, frosted with strong rifling. Metal surfaces retain 50% finish overall. Barrel retains strong blue on flats, thinning to bare metal at edges. Mag tube is mostly patina brown color, with bare metal where tube rubs when moved for take down. Receiver is patina brown with bare metal at edges, pitting at top edges, scratches to sides and next to screw heads. Buttplate is mostly smooth bare metal, with light pitting at top cap. Screw slots typically fair condition with some marring. Forend is fair to good condition, some dents & scratches, good fit to metal. Butt is good condition with creases and dents, mostly good fit to metal, very little shrinkage noted, some erosion or loss at toe. Wood appears to have varnish applied over previous wear. Markings are mostly deep and clear, with even depth. Action operates smoothly.
