Winchester Model 1892 saddle ring carbine in .44-40 caliber retaining most of its original blue finish, serial number 403146. The barrel and magazine tube show 75% to 85% original blue that is toning slightly withsome minor scratches, light beginning erosion and normal aging. The barrel address is sharp and clear. The carbine rear sight retains most of its’ original blue. The bands show traces of blue. The frame shows 30% to50% original thinning blue finish with the balance gone to a gray patina. The hammer and lever shows strong traces of muted case hardening which amount to at least 30% overall. The stocks are good to very goodwith some minor scratches, dings, mars and just normal use. The wood to metal fit is good and is still high against the metal. The carbine has been fitted with a period tang sight patent dated 1903. The action is goodand the bore is bright and at least very good but may clean to excellent. Est.: $1400-$2800.
