Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle, #180246, .38 WCF cal., 24'' octagon barrel, no finish, straight grip walnut stock, crescent steel buttplate, dovetailed front sight with silver blade, and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Upper tang with early type three-line ''PAT. OCT. 14. 1884'' stamp. Barrel is marked on the top with two-line ''NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A.'' address and ''38 W.C.F.'' on top flat near the receiver. Mfg'd 1900. Condition is good. Metal with a mostly brown patina; receiver is a combination brown and silvery gray in color. Barrel address and other factory marks are legible. Wood shows age and wear consistent with the rest of the rifle. Both the stock and forend with an older added finish, stock is darker in color. Both fit nice and tight at the adjoining metal surfaces. Action is good with a smooth hammer and trigger. Bore rates fair with shallow rifling and a few spots of surface erosion. Est.: $600-$800. (C&R)
