Winchester Model 1890 Third Model Pump Action Rifle, #322947, .22 Short cal., 24'' octagon barrel, blue finish, straight grip walnut stock, 12-groove forend, crescent steel buttplate, dovetailed front sight with ''Nov. 4, 1902'' patent date, ''V''-notched rear sight with adjustment screw and marked ''PAT. JAN. 29, 1901''. Upper tang is marked ''WINCHESTER / TRADE MARK''. Barrel with two-line ''DEC. 6, 92'' last patent date address followed by ''-MOD. 1890.-''; top of barrel near the receiver is marked ''22 SHORT''. Mfg'd 1907. Condition is excellent with approx. 95% original blue on barrel and receiver; wear to the highpoints, upper and lower tang, and magazine tube account for most of the finish loss. Receiver and rear sight with scattered specks of reddish brown freckling. Top of barrel near the rear sight and magazine tube with a few small spots of fine pitting, slightly larger and more noticeable on the mag tube. Buttplate with a considerable amount of light scratches and wear to the finish. Factory lettering is clean and well defined. Wood with a nice tight fit and shows scattered light handling marks and retains nearly all of the finish; left side of forend at the retaining screw with a small chip. Action is crisp with a smooth hammer and trigger; dark bore is fair as lightly frosted. Est.: $600-$900. (C&R)
