Winchester Model 1886 special order rifle in .50/100/450 caliber, 26” round barrel, full magazine, rifle butt, plain trigger, takedown frame, received in the warehouse 10/9/1896 shipped from the warehouse 8/6/1897 with features confirmed by research request from Cody Firearms Museum, serial number 110267. Special ordered .50 caliber rifles are quite rare and this example remains in very good plus original condition with 75% to 85% original blue remaining, some light erosion and normal aging just starting with losses around the muzzle and takedown areas mainly. The caliber marking and edges are fairly crisp as is the barrel address. The rifle shows a three leaf Winchester folding express rear sight and standard front sight in the correct dovetails. The stocks are of a select grain and possibly 1x with some excellent light refinishing as they still fit the metal properly and are not down in size. The hammer and lever show considerable case hardening. The bolt and loading gate show bright original blue. The action is tight, the bore is bright and at least very good plus to near excellent. A very nice takedown .50 caliber that is still tight upon the frame and rarely encountered. Keith and Lori Candee Collection. Est.: $8,000- $16,000
