The included Cody Firearms Museum letter confirms the serial number, rifle configuration, caliber, barrel length, barrel shape (#1 octagon), and plain trigger. The letter states that the rifle was received in warehouse on November 20, 1886 and shipped on January 12, 1887, order number 14477. Blade front and buckhorn rear sights on a barrel marked with the two line Winchester address with "22 CAL." at the breech. The lower tang has the patent date and serial number. Blue with casehardened receiver and lever. Smooth straight grip stock with crescent buttplate with ebony tip on the Schnabel forearm.

Condition: Good as refinished. The barrel is re-blued with the balance a smooth brown patina. The receiver and lever retain strong amounts of silvered out original case colors with the balance a smooth dark patina. There is some minor spotting. The refinished wood has a few minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
