Winchester Model 1876 special ordered short rifle in .50-95 EX. Caliber with 20” round barrel, full magazine, select wood stocks, sling swivels and shotgun butt plate, serial number 29797. The short rifle shows an older refinish with a re-casehardened frame and lightly refinished stocks. The original barrel markings are good and the caliber marking has been refreshed. The markings on the dust cover are 85% visible. There is an engraved and gold inlay crest on the upper tang which maybe the crest of an Indian noble. The action is good and the bore is very good plus. The European collector who has consigned this gun thought it was used to hunt tiger in India. There has been a small gold or silver plaque removed from the belly of the butt stock. Should be further researched through factory records. Est.:$ 6,000-$12,000
