This is a Third Model manufactured in 1884. Blade front and military style folding ladder rear sight graduated to 1,100 yards with 1,200 yard notch at the top. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two line address/King's improvement patent dates and the top at the breech is marked "CAL/45-75". The bottom of the cartridge elevator is marked "45-75", the upper tang is marked "{MODEL 1876}" and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Saddle ring and stud mounted on the left rear of the receiver, blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate and mounted with a full walnut forearm with one barrel band and steel forend cap, and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate. The right side of the stock is stamped with boxed arched "N.W.M.P.", North West Mounted Police.

Condition: Good as partially refinished (left side plate reblued). The balance of the metal surfaces have a smooth brown patina with traces of original blue in the protected areas of the barrel and receiver. The hammer and lever have a smooth mottled grayish patina and the buttplate has a smooth gray patina. The wood is also good with a small gouge on the stock comb, a small gouge on the forearm and overall scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The markings are clear, (unless noted above). The action is fine.
