Winchester Model 1873 special order rifle .38-40 caliber with 26” round barrel, with button magazine, blue and case hardened finish, shotgun butt with factory tang sight by Winchester, serial number 129967A. Thebarrel shows 75% to 85% original blue that is nicely aging with some minor erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The barrel address is sharp and clear and there is some very bright blue where protected. The frameshows 50% to 70% original case hardening that is drifting to silver at the edges with some very good areas of very good rainbow colors showing nicely. The forend cap shows 30% to 50% case hardening. The varnished stocks arevery good showing 50% to 70% varnish on the butt stock and some slight oil staining on the forend. There are some minor scratches and storage marks. The dust cover and loading gate show 50% plus bright original blue andthe rear sight also shows bright original blue. The sights are also original to the rifle. The wood to metal fit is excellent and the action is good. The bore is at least very good and still bright. Just the way
