Winchester Model 1873 musket, .44-40 caliber, remaining in near fine original condition with bayonet, serial number 457531 B. The rifle shows 75% to 85% original blue that is still very bright in some areas. Some slightdrifting at high points and edges. There are some scratches at the end of the barrel from the bayonet being attached. The barrel address is sharp. The metal surfaces are very crisp with just minor beginning lighterosion and natural aging. The stocks are also very good plus to near fine with some scratching and handling on the forend and minor crate marks. There are a few dings and mars in the wood. The hammer and loadinglever show 75% to 85% case hardening with some very colorful areas. The butt plate shows traces of case hardening within its patina. The dust cover shows 60% to 70% blue and the loading gate shows 75% to 85%original bright blue. The action is very tight and the bore is bright to near excellent. A near fine original bayonet showing bright polish is included. Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
