Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle, .44 W.C.F. cal., 24” octagon barrel, blue finish, 7-leaf rear sight, set trigger, sling swivel on the butt stock, #485436B in overall very good condition showing an overall grey patina on metalsurfaces with some scattered spots of erosion and several minor spots of old pitting on the left side plate and a spot on the rear left and a spot on the rear right sides of the frame; very good bore, crisp action, very good markings including“G5306” stamped in front of the caliber marking on the left barrel flat at the breech (likely a registration number for acceptance into Canada or South Africa but no other foreign proofs, etc. visible); set trigger working at time ofdescription, front swivel at forend cap missing; stocks are overall good with scattered old mars, dings and scratches from carry and storage plus an old 1-1/2” loss along the left top rail of the forend, a “JV” carved into the right side of thebutt stock and an old small circular plug of wood approx. 3/8” in diameter located in the bottom of the butt stock near the butt plate that appears to have neatly repaired an old small crack in the wood at that location.
