Manufactured in 1888, this particular example is a Third Model with the distinctive integral dust cover rail. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/King's patent dates ahead of the rear sight, "38 W.C.F." at the breech and "38 CAL." on the bottom of the brass cartridge elevator. The model designation is marked on the upper tang and the serial number on the lower tang. Silver blade front and adjustable buckhorn rear sights. Full magazine, all blue finish with casehardened hammer and lever, and mounted with a smooth forearm with iron end cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate, with compartment (the door does not slide open).

Condition: Fine. The rifle retains 30% original blue finish mainly concentrated in protected areas with the balance having a smooth brown patina. The lever has a smooth dark patina. The wood is very good with a couple small gouges and overall scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
