Manufactured in 1891, this particular example is a Third Model with the distinctive integral dust cover rail. The top of the shortened barrel is marked with the two line address/King's patent dates ahead of the rear sight, "38 W.C.F." at the breech and "38 CAL." on the bottom of the brass cartridge elevator. The model designation is marked on the upper tang and the serial number on the lower tang. Replacement blade front and adjustable buckhorn rear sights. Full magazine, all blue finish with casehardened hammer and lever, and mounted with a smooth forearm with iron end cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate, with compartment (cleaning rod not included).

Condition: Fine as modified (barrel shortened) with 40% blue overall, with the balance a smooth brownish gray patina. The band that secures the magazine to the barrel and the front sight appear to have been about an inch closer to the muzzle at one time. The receiver shows strong dark original finish in protected areas with smooth brown and gray patina on the balance. There is a smooth mottled gray patina on the hammer, lever and buttplate. The wood is very good with a few scattered minor gouges and overall minor dings and scratches. Clear markings. The action is fine.
