Winchester Model 1866 saddle ring carbine in .44 center-fire caliber with late caliber markings on barrel, serial number 127727. The barrel shows a gray patina finish with light to heavy scattered erosion and pitting. The barrel address is about half visible and the caliber marking at breech partially visible. The folding carbine rear sight is retained. The frame shows a good patina with some scratches, normal wear and aging at the edges and some damage from being dented on each side of the front frame. The forend is well-worn and shows losses at the top from whatever compressed the frame. Also heavy wear at the front of the forend. The butt stock is also well-worn and undersized with losses and imperfections. The steel butt plate shows some pitting and erosion with a dark patina. The action is loose and the bore is rough.
