Winchester Model 1866 lever action rifle in .44 rim fire caliber showing Henry patent marked barrel with no serial number visible. The underside of the tang shows an old gunsmith repair using a steel plate secured by a screw in thearea where the serial number would have been placed. The barrel and magazine tube show light cleaning with some pitting and still good edges and mostly visible barrel address. The rear sight is a correct early type and the front sight showsan old replacement blade. The stocks have been refinished and show some losses and would be considered only fair. The brass has been polished bright. The rifle is mounted with early style sling swivels and the action is working. The boreis fair to poor. A restorable or type example of an early Henry marked 1866 which are becoming very expensive when found with condition Est.: $3750-$7500
