Winchester Model 1866 lever action musket in .44 rim-fire caliber showing 27” barrel and all features standard on musket except right side of frame stamped capital F S over De Uso Articular which is a South American or Mexican marking. The barrel shows a gray to brown patina finish with good address and some minor dings, mars, scratches and dents. The rear sight has been changed to a V notch type from the musket type and is set in the original dovetail. The brass is good with a mellow patina and the markings are original. The stocks are slightly undersized and worn with some slight sanding and refinishing to the butt stock. The action is good, the bore is very good with some slight erosion and minor pitting, these markings are unusual and researchable. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $3,000-$6,000.
