Winchester Model 1866 lever action SRC, .44 cal., 20” barrel, blue finish, brass frame and butt plate, #46281. This classic “yellow boy” is in overall good to very good condition showing a taffy colored patina to the frame and butt plate with period initials “AL” lightly etched on the left side of the receiver adjacent to the lifter shaft and on the right side of the frame above the trigger; dark patina to barrel and loading tube with some scattered spots of erosion and pinprick pitting; old replacement front and rear sights that likely suited the owner’s eyes just fine; very good bore, good action; wood is beautifully worn from years of carry and weathering, an old repair to a crack on the right upper edge of the fore stock at the breech, butt stock sling swivel base on underside of stock long missing; saddle ring present as is the lever retainer. A desirable ’66 carbine that has a great out-of-the-attic look; the way true collectors love to find them! Est.: $3,500-$5,500.
