Winchester 1873 Third Model lever action rifle, .44 W.C.F. cal., 24” octagon barrel, set trigger, blue and case hardened finish, wood stocks, #129940A with factory letter confirming octagon barrel, set trigger and case hardening withnotation of shipment from warehouse on August 3, 1883 with six other arms (to order number) 5865. This gun is in overall very good + condition showing considerable areas of original blue finish on the barrel mixed with brown patina, mostlygrey patina to loading tube, the receiver shows a general silvery toning with ample areas of muted original case colors and brighter original case colors in protected areas with the hammer and lever both showing original case colors too; therifle also displays a near fine bore, crisp action, sharp barrel address and serial number but no caliber marking at breech end of barrel or on base of brass riser; the wood butt stock and forend are very good + with some minor old marsand scratches from storage; a desirable blue and case hardened ’73 with an appealing appearance.
