You are bidding on a Winchester Model 1873 .38 WCF Octagon Barrel Lever Action Rifle. The rifle features a 24" octagon barrel, engraved front forend, correct butt plate with trap for cleaning rods, walnut stock and forearm, mellow uncleaned brass lifter factory engraved “38 CAL,” retains original dust cover on receiver top- these often missing or replaced, Winchester markings on the barrel and upper tang, 24" octagon barrel factory original buckhorn rear sight and front sight. A early 1873 Model Winchester, considered “The Gun That Won The West” with most surviving examples showing hard use and often abuse. The rifle shows good condition with good amount of bluing present. It shows some pitting and honest use (review photos). The action shows good mechanical condition with a bright bore showing strong rifling and minor pitting. Manufactured in 1890. Antique firearm.
