William Chance & Sons percussion dueler/target pistol, barrel period engraved by agent Hayden Gregg & Co. Charleston SC. The pistol measures 15-1/2” overall with 10-1/4” heavy octagon barrel of approx. .52 caliber smoothbore. The mounts and lock are nicely engraved. The list shows a single set trigger. The metal surfaces show a brown patina finish with scattered light to moderate erosion and pitting. The stock shows an old break at the wrist and has been repaired with small pieced of new wood added. The balance of the stock is fair to good with minor scratches, etc. An old oak ramrod of the period is included. The markings are good, the action is good. Gregg was a well-known From the William R.
