Hard to find Whitehall lunch hour stoneware pieces. Three gallon butter churn with bristol glaze interior and unglazed exterior that has been combed with a tool to resemble a tree bark pattern with applied leaves and accents of tree stumps. Two lug handles applied to the sides. Churn lid included. Bottom marked with block stamp "Ruckles Stoneware". A.D. Ruckels Stoneware was business in Whitehall, Illinois from 1893 to 1911. Four Indian head bottles known as "lunch hour" pieces. During the potters lunch they would take the time to experiment and personalize items. These four stoneware Indian head bottles are attributed to A.D. Ruckles of Whitehall. Churn H 14" W 10 1/2", Bottles Approximate H 11" W 3 1/2"
