Wheelock Trap Gun with German styling and makers mark on lock circa about 1600-1650. Refer “Firearms Curiuosa” by Winant pg. 113. The gun measures 26” overall with 14-3/4” half round half octagon barrel. The metalsurfaces show a dark patina, the wood is good and shows provisions and holes from mounting as a trap gun. There is a ram rod in the left side of the stock which appears to be the original. The stock is good with somesmall dings, dents etc and a couple of small losses. There is a crown proof on left side of breech which may be Suhl. A simple spanner wrench was contained in the patch box and it is of the correct size and period.This Wheelock has been known to oddity collectors for 50 years and it is considered one of the few Wheelock trap guns that exist.
