Framed Print 24" x 20" Printed Signature, and Artist Joe Radar Roberts signature Actual print size: 12" x 9" Joe Rader Roberts (1925-1982) Joe Rader Roberts was born in Lockhart, Texas. In high school his art abilities matured and he quickly found work after graduation as a commercial artist. After serving in the Merchant Marines from 1943-1945 he enrolled in the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco. In 1949 he married and moved to Houston again, working as a commercial artist painting illustrations on store fronts various businesses. His passion for the historic frontier drew him to the fine arts and he became a full time artist painting scenes of the early West. Roberts was best known for his western narrative paintings and has collectors primarily throughout the southwest. Following in his footsteps, his son, Gary Lynn Roberts, is a noted Western artist.
