Well-marked and signed European rapier circa 1590s-1650s remaining in good original condition with matching period elements. The sword measures 44 and nearly ½” over all showing approximately 38” blade. The ricasso shows two armorer’s marksfrom the area of Toledo Spain and the blade is signed in the blood groove “Tomas Ayala en Toledo”. The metal surfaces show some light to moderate pitting but are generally good overall for their age and the grip shows proper style wire wrap. A very nice original rapier. Est.: $1500-$3000
