Water color entitled “Hunting Antelope” signed lower right “C. M. Russell”, approx. 5 1/2” by 9”. One of a group of sketches sent to “Pony Bill” by Charlie Russell. See Charles M. Russell - Word Painter by Brian W. Dippie, page 18 where it is featured and discussed. The water color show two hunters “flagging” an antelope and shows tethered horses in background with antelope busting through bullet hole in the left upper corner. The painting shows some staining and spotting and is in need of minor conservation and cleaning. The condition is generally good with just some normal aging. Beautifully framed and matted.
