You are bidding on a beautiful Warwick cylinder portrait vase. Warwick china was made in Wheeling, West Virginia from 1887-1951. This vase is believed to date to the early 20th Century. Like many of the portrait vases Warwick made, this vase has a brown glaze, two twig-shaped handles, a flared base, and a gilded decorative top. What makes this vase a little more unusual is that the woman is painted facing away with her head turned in profile. She is wearing a white toga hanging down off of her left shoulder. She appears to be holding an iris, which appears over her left shoulder. Typically, irises stand for royalty, faith, wisdom, hope, and valor; additionally, white irises stand for purity. This beautiful vase is in remarkably good condition; it has no cracks and no chips.
