Starting life as a Match Target Woodsman made in 1940, this pistol was used by Colt as an experimental weapon, and is fitted with a hexagonal muzzle and heavyweight barrel, which is described as "incomplete" in the included factory letter, but begins the description with "Colt Experimental Woodsman Semi-Automatic Pistol". Equipped with a windage adjustable rear sight, with the original serial number on the butt and "X24725" (the number listed in the letter) on the right side of the chamber. A small hole has been drilled in the right side of the frame.
