WWII Nazi Waffen SS Field Gray Tunic
Waffen SS Field Gray Tunic. The tunic was the part of a German serviceman's uniform and would go through heavy combat with the soldier. Throughout the war, the tunic design would be simplified to increase production and lessen the material cost to Germany. Every branch would have their own uniform that varied slightly from one to another. This tunic has the early bottle green collar over the feldgrau (Field Gray) collar. The collar tabs and shoulder boards identify the rank of Schutze (Trooper), the equivalent of a Private. The tunic has the early 5 buttons with four pockets. A ribbon for an Iron Cross medal is tucked into one of the button holes. Early Germania cuff title and SS eagle with swastika are present on the left sleeve. The cuff title signifies being a part of the Germania infantry regiment that would later become a part of the 5th SS Wiking Panzer Division. Above the upper left breast pocket, there is a ribbon bar with the Iron Cross 2nd Order Ribbon, the War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords, the Eastern Front Service Ribbon, two long service SS ribbons, and the West Wall ribbon. The left shoulder broad has some loose stitching on the edge. The rest of the uniform has no damage or loose stitching. Very good condition. From the Michael Clifton collection.
